Wisdom teeth, also known as third molars, are the last teeth to appear in your mouth. The average jaw is made to hold only 28 teeth and can be painful when 32 teeth try to fit into that space! In many individuals, the wisdom teeth aren't visible because they have become impacted.

Do all wisdom teeth need to be extracted?
Not all wisdom teeth need to be extracted.
Wisdom teeth may not need to be removed if they are
- Healthy.
- Fully erupted.
- Positioned correctly and biting properly with their opposite teeth.
Wisdom teeth removal may be necessary
- Pain.
- Repeated infection of soft tissue behind the lower last tooth.
- Cysts (fluid-filled sacs).
- Damage to nearby teeth.
- Gum disease.
- Extensive tooth decay.
